that's right, it's currently an open issue. I have postponed the patch, because personally I dislike the fact that you are basicly changing module behaviour and others that do not (or even rely on not having) re-connect looping are suffering under this change. It would be better to have a configuration switch here that tells the module if it should be looping for connects, or not. And "not" should be the default then if the configuration directive is not given in the smsc group. I'll have a peek on this.
