If your modem has problems connecting to the cellular network, then Kannel will try to
send the message 3 times and if it fails it will be discarded. Writing retry
mechanisms into Kannel will be an interesting endeavor, I think, but it will be
problematic. how do you define how many times to retry ? what intervals ? it has to be
different for each connection, maybe even different for different messages or
different receivers. currently the application must handle the retrying if needed,
which it does by registering for delivery reports (DLRs) and resends if it doesn't
receive a 'delivery successful' report. It's probably good enough for most purposes,
if only AT2 would support that. unfortunatly I have yet had time to finish up on DLR
support for AT2. I do have code to do that for the 'submission un/successful' and can
send you the patches if you like. by monitoring those two DLR events your application
can tell if the message was submitted, or was it discarded and need to be resent.
