i added the enctype to the form...

<form action="http://*.*.*.*:13013/cgi-bin/sendsms" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" method="post">

and the results are the same as before... smsbox.log shows the same thing.... tried using user/pass instead of username/password to no avail....

it's ok once i change the method to "get"

You have a problem with encoding - when submitting forms through GET, the url-encoding is implied, but POST is defaulted to application/octet-stream. if you use a browser to POST from a form, you have to set the enctype property of the form to 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'.
