yep, I don't thing numbering would be good in this case. To be honest I'd rather tend to avoid this hacky packy numbering and agree to the previous thought that a stop/start operation should apply to all smsc links that carry that specific smsc-id. Would this solve all your issues?! I mean this is fairly ok, because it does not break the behaviour if you have a group of links that are not named the same and logically some may start/stop them with their unique smsc-id.
