My Nokia 6310i works with the kannel gateway (although I haven't yet tested
any other part of kannel). Set up was as for the 7110, except for the
folowing:

Autobauding Automatic ("Data call
speed" option)
There's also a "Data bearer" option where the 7110 has a "Bearer" option,
which gives a choice between GSM and GPRS connections, and a "Login type"
option, which allows manual or automatic logins. If automatic login is
selected, then "User name" and "Password" options are given as with the
7110.
