yes, it's pure EMS and everything is described in 3GPP TS 23.040.

what kind of models are you speaking about? the truth is that both Nokia
and Ericsson are using the same format for pictures - it's OTB. I'm able
to send so called "operator logo" to my Ericsson T65, but it fits into one
SMS so there is no need to thing about concatenation while it's different
larger "picture message".
