emi 4.0 has only two or three differences from 3.5 and they are not used in kannel. You should use emi2 without problems. PS: I'd rather rename emi to other name, emi2 to emi and say that emi_old should only be used with X25. emi2 doesn't include X25 support and I think there's still some X25 connections out there
