Use PDUSpy from Nobbi (http://www.nobbi.com), great tool for decoding SMS PDUs. On Nobbis page you'll also find a good description (in german) of the 7-bit format (http://www.nobbi.com/sms_pdu.htm).Hello list. Im trying to send OTA configuring sms to a siemens mobile... a valid sms is this:
AF17140A0AC27742990BB67B4EA1CC1D34269BD17643D88EF89681AE4128E808954E77C5210D0693 CDCCB1F14C6CBBC966B49D11B63B9EE7EDC8192E9FEFA8683A1DAE7BBDEE61B8 EB2D7BBBD96977D9452EBF76DA7B18EEB2A7C3E7B49B5E96AFDF6D17B9BC63EE 9A3B1008
Could anyone explain me how to translate this hexadecimal characters into a human readable text like the folowing...?
//PP Ap;B2.0;OSPL;P1234;C0;Do2 WAP
GPRS;EC40023f1c3b67234;F0;Ggsmgprs;Thttp://wap.o2online.de/;Zwap.viaginterkom.d
e;L;M;
But before pasting the above hex-code into PDUSpy please prefix it with a valid header, for example: 010000810000xx where xx is the number of bytes following, for the above example it's 7B. And set "outgoing" and "no smsc header".
The user experience with Openwave OTAP is not very convincing, i suggest you use WAP Provisioning as it's an open standard and provides a much better interface. (It shows an "@" on the left Softkey and when pressing it shows the contents of the OTA message leaving the user to choose a free profile or to discard the settings. Openwave only shows a message in the display (like CB) that a profile has been successfully imported and when the user starts the browser it asks for a "PIN", which is not your SIM PIN (confusing!), my guess is that it's the P Parameter of the above message.
WAP Provisioning in S55 is not based on Openwave! The software-component is Siemens "self-made" based on the standards of the WAPForum (OMA).
And another question regarding the theme: when sending the message, do I have to send the hexadecimal format or can be sent in text format?I just tried it, text-mode is OK! (You can even enter it in another's mobile user-interface and send it from mobile to mobile)
...Alex
