actualy it is not a "purpose". But it's the way currently implemented in gw/wap-appl.c:802. I guess the main purpose is that the access-log "should" contain only successfull HTTP request/response indications. It *does* include HTTP error response codes, but does *not* include the fact that a particular HTTP server could not be addressed or reached, that is correct. Any suggestions why this would be semantically necessary to log to access-log?
