Reading messages out of memory on startup (AT Driver)

Has anyone modified the AT driver to automatically read unread messages out of a phones memory on startup? I'm working with the scenario where the SIM recieved a load of messages, but Kannel wasn't running to read them so they went to the phone memory (SIM memory I'm guessing actually).   If not I'll add the code in Regards   Alex
