Every 3 months or so, I am re-evaluating all available SCMs, for
exactly same reason: I want to collaborate with people who think
bitkeeper is unsuitable.

I am using bk mainly because of it's convenience and because I am
often patching linux kernel, and this is an official Linus' SCM :)

was still shell script. It is better now, but still not as usable as,
for example, bitkeeper :)

Primary source of information about various SCMs is:
http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/scm.html
pages mentioned at the bottom of this document, and of course personal
experience installing and maintaining it.

So. I think svn will be good alternative. I will try to setup it's
server parts (webdav way) at stingr.net and can try convert project
history (if you'll send me CVSROOT) if you don't have much time to do
this.
