You need an account with the carrier, but usually not the specifications. The 
account will tell you what protocol to use, and a username and password etc.

If they are using a standard protocol like SMPP, CIMD2, or EMI/UCP, you should 
be able to use Kannel.

Not sure about the US networks, but I don't think all are closed..

Contact them? Seriously, they probably will expect you to send a "serious"
