try connecting the modem using minicom. minicom -s will give you a setup, where you can enter line speed, which line, etc. if you enter at in minicom, and the modem responds with OK, it most likely will work. since you don't get that to work, i don't see any chance for you, getting this to work with kannel.
Hint: some nokias mess up their serial line under some conditions, and won't talk to you at all. you should power-cycle the modem, before starting another trie. Willi
