Version 8 of postgres accepts LIMIT 1. As nowadays most users use 8 or 8.1, it probably have not shown up anymore as a problem.

I think you might find on a production system people don't just upgrade a major version for the sake of it, so there could well be quite a lot of earlier versions running. Although maybe in an ideal world a new kannel instance would go on a new box, so it would get a new install of PostgreSQL as well.
