now, you don't have to. It's an optional switch '--version' to the binary. And it's anyway "final" in the term that the binaries will halt after dumping, so no worries that this is displayed while starting up the daemons, it does not.

Why is that? If you used a distro packages rpm, you should have a /etc/init.d/kannel related file that start/stops the service. If you're building from scratch (source), then you obviously have to build the "administrative" things on your own.

Can anyone please help me out with this issue.

Simply use a /etc/init.d/kannel that goes with any of the major Linux distros, i.e. Fedora, Debian, and modify the shell script for your own purposes.

If you still face crucial need for help, I agree with Nikos, that this discussion is more suites for the users list.
