Usually, this is because the hardware is incorrect. A single slot controller should have an I/O size of 256 bytes. The driver checks it: http://dev.laptop.org/git.do?p=olpc-2.6;a=blob;h=9a7d39b7cdbf43ae3b24df6eed03b8e4c511148b;hb=303e9a7ab9639d0c1359d330412ec7299fd35159;f=drivers/mmc/sdhci.c#l1164 and gets hissy if it is wrong.
