It helps somewhat to cut off the bottom corner of the flange on the
plastic serial connector plug, thus preventing it from hanging on the
transistor so readily. The plastic is fairly soft and can be cut with
scissors, diagonal cutters, fingernail clippers, a hobby knife, etc.
