Wiki article on the spec [1] and a generic Google search [2] are two places to start. I don't know what specific conversation might have gone on in the ML, offhand. I don't recall seeing it. IRC has had some talk, as have the wiki. There is some talk about how Abiword and the Journal activity will compliment eachother. [3] Hope that helps you.
