The OLPC security working group has been investigating randomizing the MAC address on a rolling schedule -- something along the general lines of the IPv6 privacy extensions, but lower in the stack. Michail didn't think it'd be much of a problem. The reason it's worth serious consideration in our case is the Marvell chip; it's an unpleasant idea that even after you power off your laptop, it's still leaking its (your) identity to anything in wifi range that cares. -- Ivan Krstić <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | GPG: 0x147C722D _______________________________________________ Devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel
