Blake Setlow was the first to take me up on my offer; he asked me to consider the fixes for #5268 and #1002 discussed previously in: http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/devel/2008-March/012052.html and http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/devel/2008-May/013611.html and offered his assistance testing 704 in exchange. Because #5268 is an iconic bug which may offer some relief to those with jumpy touchpads, I am inclined to consider his changes on these terms even though I suspect that it may exhaust our remaining QA resources to attempt to qualify them. If you have other issues you wish to propose, you need to do so by Sunday night so that I can make an informed decision about how to proceed if 704 turns out to be worth keeping. Michael P.S. - Dennis, Blake, and I spoke with Andres to learn of his feelings on how to proceed. He informed us that he does not consider it feasible to QA a 2.6.25 kernel or to backport his touchpad driver in time for our bugfix release. However, in preparation for our August release, he requested more extensive testing of his 'testing' kernel series, which we should endeavor to provide by using these kernels in the joyride, faster, olpc3, &etc. builds. _______________________________________________ Devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel
