It's free software, so you get to choose from multiple free firmware
implementations for x86, some in C, some in Assembler, some in Forth:
- Open Firmware (Forth)
- Smart Firmware (C, compiles to Forth)
- U-Boot (C, ASM)
- coreboot v2/v3 (C)
- LinuxBIOS v1 (C, ASM)
