I've run up os123.zd on my XO-1.5 to try and test this further. Running up totem from the sugar terminal it plays ok but with no sound. Totem reports that its muted. I then went into gnome to see what I could get there. Nothing either. But no gnome volume control either. "yum install pulseaudio-module-x11 gnome-media" resolved the volume control in gnome bit. tailing /var/log/messages gave some interesting errors so I moved back into sugar and disabled power saving. I moved back into gnome and then rebooted and got sound in totem with in the gnome environment. It wasn't too stable and there's a lot of errors in the message logs and it eventually dies but I think it should give you a good start as to where else to look.
