Yes, that's possible. However, I don't think now is a good time to do it, because the release is so near. I think we've lost the opportunity to fix it. While it is different to how it was before, it still does indicate install progress, just that it jumps forward. We've had the odd "I'm not sure if it is working" response from our testing community, but after the initial reaction I've heard nothing more. So it is a training issue that can be solved by education. If we release as is, then I don't think we should change it back in a later release. That will just confuse people more.
