Okay, I see the problem. Instead of "make", please type "(cd bin && make)" then proceed with the next steps on the page.
For your interest, in the bin directory you'll find the zhashfs program source, which has to be built before starting the builder. Only has to happen once after cloning. All the rest of olpc-os-builder is in Python and doesn't need compilation.
