I 'kind-of' have a memory controller for the XUPV2P/LM32 -- but it's not reliable and I would not recommend it.
But I found another board board that looks very interesting: Nexys2 from Digilent[1]. It provides 16MB PSRAM, thich should be easy to access. Writing a PSRAM controller might even be an interesting first FPGA project...
