Hi, I am very happy that I can now offer a much more complete Milkymist One product for 499 USD plus shipping (shipping with Fedex from Taipei). The package includes:
*) Milkymist One RC2 board *) high-speed capable jtag-serial daughterboard *) US or EU power adapter (others upon request, such as UK/Japan/Australia) *) beautiful acrylic case (unassembled, with assembly instructions) The price is 499 USD plus shipping. I only have a handful in stock right now, but I'd say until they are sold we can just say "Milkymist One is in stock", especially since there are more available at Bearstech, kd85 and Tuxbrain. What are we going to do next? - First - we need to find buyers for those wonderful Milkymist One units me and others have in stock today. Supplies are limited, so on one side we are not making a big launch release or announcement now, because we wouldn't be able to serve people. On the other hand we very much need to find true pioneers who see the potential, buy one now, and start contributing - on the technical or creative or any other side. So we are 'leaking' the news in this style to our core audience here, as well as individually talking to people we know. - Over the next months we will keep improving the product, making a real box, labels, selling fully assembled units, adding some reasonable accessories (cables, adapters), better manual, etc. - We have kicked off the next run, RC3, which will include a number of improvements (some are still being worked on). The criteria for the actual RC3 gerber out and SMT run are not when the current RC2 supplies run out, but when we feel good about having reached the next production and quality level. This is happening at many levels right now. So if you want to get a Milkymist One, and not face a several months wait after/if the last RC2 are sold, you might want to think about it now. I would currently, very roughly, estimate that we have the full rc3 launch in May. Error margin is later, not earlier. - The RC3 run size will be 80 units, for 3 reasons: 1) our 2011 sales goal is 200 units, so if we can sell 30 RC2 units and 80 RC3 units, we have reached 110 sales - meaning that if there is another run in August or so, things could work out for the 200 goal, at least on the supply side. Where are the 200 buyers?! :-) 2) a run of 80 means that we are doubling the size of the prior run, which is the right way to grow production runs. 3) I believe even with a successful launch (i.e. coverage in some major publications or blogs), finding 80 actual paying customers is a stretch, so I am optimistic that we don't have to send anyone away. - Until the time RC3 and the whole product package (box etc) are ready, we will have made professional photos and prepared a solid launch press release. Also until then many more software and hardware bugs will have been fixed. Bottom line: If you want to order a complete Milkymist One kit now, please email [email protected] to settle payment and shipping details. We ship worldwide. It's just one email (and a clear state of mind) away. Anybody ready? Cheers, and thanks to everybody who helped get it this far, Wolfgang _______________________________________________ http://lists.milkymist.org/listinfo.cgi/devel-milkymist.org IRC: #milkymist@Freenode Twitter: www.twitter.com/milkymistvj Ideas? http://milkymist.uservoice.com
