As long a your boot loader needs 64 bits or less, no problem.
The other challenge would be to make sure the rest of the
system knows to look for a boot loader over there ;-)

I think most of them have this in some way. If a change of NOR
chip is considered I'd be more interested in flexible locking
capabilities. The NOR M1 currently uses seems somewhat
old-fashioned in this regard.

For example, the 28W series would have non-persistent locking
that defaults to the locked state.

Of course, any solution that avoids large amounts of persistent
on-board memory entirely would be even more to my liking :-)
