As long a your boot loader needs 64 bits or less, no problem. I think most of them have this in some way. If a change of NOR chip is considered I'd be more interested in flexible locking capabilities. The NOR M1 currently uses seems somewhat old-fashioned in this regard. For example, the 28W series would have non-persistent locking that defaults to the locked state.
