It might be an Ethernet problem but it still means that the unit will not
update, is there a list that shows compatible routers, or a workaround to
help the poor wee beastie see version information rather than freezing?

On the bug fix article on your website the "available" info is 3 "?" rather
than numeric values.

Ah, so it's not an 'update' problem, but an ethernet problem. Are you using
DHCP or did you enter that address manually?
