There are 4 PLLs in the LX45; each continuous DVI input stream needs one, the digital part of the DVI output needs one, the high speed DDRAM PHY - which you probably want - needs one. So it's 2 HDMI inputs usable continously while all the other subsystems are operating. Two HDMI inputs can also reasonably share a PLL as they relock fast; you would only lose about one frame when switching (from the destination port - as you can even sync the switch with the end of the frame from the current port). With this trick, the 4 HDMI ports are usable at the price of some headache with Spartan-6 clock routing and ISE bugs. Audio has also been removed from the Mixxeo. The IO connectors, on the other hand, have been improved (more pins + differential pairs).
