I've recently (yesterday) built Openwrt from trunk, replaced the trunk compat-wireless with the one from the Git repository as per o11s wiki for Wireless-testing (removed the patches that came with trunk). replaced the iw package with the one from Git as per o11s 0.5 release notes (removing the trunk patches) and compiled no problems. I have it installed on some UBNT Bullet M2's and some UBNT Rocket M5's without any issues.
Don't know if the latest patches are incorporated into the latest Git snapshots, if not then I will attempt to apply those and let you know how that builds David.
