You may want to use the --interactive option, turn up the debug level (with the --debuglevel option) and possibly use the single process model to ensure that you have more information. If you still can't figure it out, you'll need to provide a clearer description of exactly what you're trying to do, what the configuration is (cut-n-paste from smb.conf), and what error / debug you're seeing (again, cut-n-paste).
