Maybe just a case of the developers of Kolab who need to integrate the (exchange protocols) to make Kolab work with Microsoft Outlook natively as the Openchange project did and yes time is factor.
I personally think that people are so used to Microsoft Outlook that they want and need the familiarity of Outlook but without the costs, so if anyone can design an interface that looks and feels like Microsoft Outlook and works like exchange, they will have a winner. I know about Zentyal and their implementation of Sogo (in case someone is going to suggest I use that instead). I really like Kolab and the work they have put into their user interface and IMAP server integration. This kind of interface would allow greater adoption for many product as the Openchange interface would work in conjunction with the other existing interfaces. Please let me know if I am over simplifying this and whether this can be done. What piece of the bigger picture am I not seeing?
