Do you have a reference documentation you can point me to so I
understand the nature of the conversion you are referring to? I fear I
am lacking some background and contexts and that is tainting the
relevance of the information I share with you.

FYI, do not exclude the possibility that openchange can extend the API
with an additional layer dedicated to handle these complex properties/blobs.
