That would require an external script with some mime smarts of it's own...it's a good point though.

I can imagine a failure mode with libmagic: /opt/csw/share/misc/magic.mgc contains what Must Not Be Pronounced, and transforming it could lead to issues. Perhaps we should only change text files?
