Looking at the output from logread it seems the problem is not the PIN-
dialog. It correctly passed on the PIN to the modem, but afterwards, when
I use the dialer it never tries to send an ATD command. It just decides
that there's no GSM.
This can't be an Assassin problem, changing to qtopia which holds the TTY
