There's a major rewrite of some stuff coming in the next day or so around
this after Sean McNeil reported a suspicion about what affected it. But I
couldn't really make a story about how this wrong stuff being fixed in
that actually made the symptom if all you were doing is sitting there
reading the input events. Anyway it is worth trying again when these
changes go in.
