It depends on what Instant Message Server means for you. It could mean the 
legacy SIP Message method for which you can handle the messages with the imc 
module or the MSRP chat server defined in 
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-simple-chat-12 for which an 
implementation is available at http://sylkserver.com

OpenSIPS would work just fine with both of them.
