My USB printer quit working when I built net-print/cups-1.4.8-r21 from Gentoo's ebuild. I wasn't able to try the Entropy version since the computer connected to my USB printer is on portage. I have added an ebuild to Sabayon's overlay for net-print/cups-1.4.8-r22 that incorporates the patch to handle both libusb and kernel USB. This works locally for me. If you have issues with USB printers and the current Entropy version of cups, I suggest using the version I just commited.
