After the update caribou does not crash anymore. I am now testing gnome-contacts and it crashes with SIGSEGV, strace doesn't show anything valuable, except the signal itself being delivered and handled. .xsession-errors and /var/log/Xorg.0.log don't show anything related, on /var/log/messages I can see this message:
