Hi, I'm not sure I should create bugs for these items so I'm posting here first to get a feeling on what can we do. I was testing yesterday's KDE x86 daily live in my laptop (where I also have my regular Sabayon installed) and found these wifi-related issues:
- Broadcom driver in use is wl by default, and I used to have an issue with it not being able to reauthenticate automatically when my laptop was on battery. I didn't really bother much trying to work around that so I switched to b43 and it's been working good since then. I do think it's a large topic to discuss so I'm sure nothing like driver switch will happen before S7, am I right? - KNetworkManager (actually called Plasma NM) does not get along well with the nm-system-settings.conf file located at /etc/NetworkManager/. When the contents of that file include the ifnet plugin, all connections are created as System Connections, which is not a major issue (you'd still be able to browse and do all your stuff) but may be annoying. I eventually dropped that file from my Sabayon installation, and now from the LiveCD I edited the contents of the file to disable the ifnet plugin and it works. I don't know what can be done to solve this issue: seems like a KDE-specific bug and I'm not able to get in touch with the maintainer at the moment. Since it's also not a major issue, I think we could even let it be and hope no one notices the glitch. That's about all I have right now. I have to do some mor tests and then go on and test the AMD64 daily in my PC and I'll let you know if there's anything else. David E. Narváez
