We're using systemd as the default, so /etc/init.d/ is the wrong way to go
about it, methinks. Back when we were using OpenRC, I'd do a
"/etc/init.d/NetworkManager start" to get networking up and running from
recovery mode.

Might I suggest going to the forum and posting these issues as it is a
better place for support questions as the ones you have, and is where
others would go that have the same problem in the future.
