- Openbox - small, looks good, but provides its own menu (right and middle click on the desktop) which may be unwanted here. (Disabling the menu in skel would be even more so. :P) - Xfwm4 may be good, but it has a few Xfce specific dependencies - not many, though. It should be a good choice. - Or if there was previously Metacity from GNOME, its equivalent from MATE might be considered, whatever its name is.
