Are you sure about that? I think that "name" in that context refers to an interface name rather than a host name. The man page for ntp.conf says: That parameter specifies a class of addresses, or a specific interface name, or an address. I poked around a bit and found: const char * if_name, /* interface name or numeric address */ I don't remember any DNS stuff in that area when I was cleaning up the DNS code for server/pool commands. -- These are my opinions.
