Hello list,
Currently this mailing list is closed (i.e. you cannot send mail to it
unless you are subscribed). We closed the list because there was a lot
of SPAM when the list was created. I had been getting about 10 SPAMs a
day as the list moderator, but I'm not getting as many now.
This is a problem when patches are mailed to other mailing lists
because this list cannot be CC'd. If this list were CC'd and someone
replied to the patches then that commenter would get mails back from
this list that they are not subscribed.
I have found some mailman filters that have been successful in reducing
SPAM for another list. I am going to apply them tomorrow and then open
our list up.
If the filters work, then we'll all probably get a small increase in
SPAM from this list as I'm sure the filters will not catch everything.
If the filters don't work then we'll all get a lot of SPAM. :)
As I stated, I'm going to do this tomorrow. If you have problems
mailing the list after tomorrow please send me a mail directly so I can
figure out what is wrong, or revert the change. I'll also probably send
a test mail to confirm that the list is open after making the change.
