@Michal/Omer/Eldan/Roy(/others) - it's just a small question
about one of the text messages, can you please assist?

Hi all,
Sorry for increasing the mail traffic, but I am re-posting this as we are
still waiting for the answer.
Hope someone can help us with this.
Many thanks in advance,
Yuko

Hello all,
I have just started working on the oVirt 3.6 localization project
together
with 6 other translators who are specializing in different languages.
I would like to post our questions to this mailing list, just as I did
for
the previous versions.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could help us by answering
questions,
so that we can ensure accuracy of our translations, based on the context.
Here is our first question.
File: LocalizedEnums
Resource ID:
NonOperationalReason___EMULATED_MACHINES_INCOMPATIBLE_WITH_CLUSTER_LEVEL
Strings: The Host emulated machine flags doesn't match any of the
emulated
machines supported by the cluster level.
Question: I cannot understand this message clearly and hope someone can
explain the context. Is this related to
http://www.ovirt.org/Cluster_emulation_modes ? It says "EmulatedMachine
is
a
property passed to QEMU as -M flag". If so, should it read "The host's
EmulatedMachine flag does not match any of the EmulatedMachine flags
supported by the cluster level" and we should leave the term
"EmulatedMachine" in English?
Hi Eldan,
Thank you very much for your reply.
It's indeed related to the "-M" flag so it can probably stay in English, based on
LocalizedEnums_de_DE.properties(and others), it seems
NonOperationalReason___EMULATED_MACHINES_INCOMPATIBLE_WITH_CLUSTER was fully translated and wasn't
left as "EmulatedMachine" so it's a close call.
In previous version, I translated this string literally (without knowing
what emulated machines do in oVirt).
Recently I heard from a solution architect that it means "types of
virtual machine to be emulated", so I applied it to my Japanese
translation as it should make a better sense to Japanese users, but this
may depend on the language.
I suppose we have several options (translate, not to translate,
translate descriptively).
Extended explanation on the error-
Each cluster-level has a list of acceptable emulated-machines for its hosts,
and each host has a list of emulated-machines that it can use. the error is
displayed if the host can't provide any of the emulated machines which are
supported by the cluster.
Thank you very much. This is very helpful.
BTW, there are a couple of grammatical error in the string.
Would you like me to file a bug?
Kind regards,
Yuko
There is also a similar string in the same file: "The Host emulated
machine
flags doesn't match one of the cluster emulated machines."
(Once again there is a bit of grammatical issue with "doesn't" being used
for
a plural noun)
Many thanks in advance,
Yuko Katabami
