Hello Vincent I'll try to be more specific, we use ldap backend to provide auth with the user_cas app (https://github.com/owncloud/user_cas) that use phpCAS to authenticate user via a cas server. In our webdav client (moodle) our users are authenticated by a cas server and we do not have their password in clear in the ldap server and so we cannot provide it to the webdav client for a basic auth. See user_external in this repo https://github.com/owncloud/apps The authentication in question should apply to ownCloud overall, so web UI and Webdav endpoints.
