Hi,

There's the TESTRUNNER_CONNECT_DELAY environnement variable that can be set for 
this purpose from the board Makefile.include file.
This is normally used for any samd21 based board with an Arduino bootloader. 
Maybe increase the TERM_DELAY variable from the command line or in the 
Makefile.include here [1].
