Makefile.kernel is supposed to be a sample for how the Makefile in the
kernel tree should look like. It is really quite similar to the one in
drivers/char/drm/ of the kernel tree, but it misses relevant entries -
that's why I'm posting.

I think Makefile.linux is meant for building the kernel modules outside the
kernel tree (inside the XFree86/DRI tree ?)- but I never tried that,
