I have only looked at this code briefly and long ago, but I think that having this circular may have been deliberate. It would certainly simplify handling <Ctrl><Alt><kp+>/<kp->. Dealing with edge cases would be more effort, especially if XFree86-VidModeExtension allows clients to to add and remove modes while the server remains running (I think it does). -- Dr. Andrew C.
