Hello,
I'm attacking the bottle necks in my app........ and I've just noticed
that XvShmPutImage is one of my bottlenecks. It takes 4 msecs to draw 1
512 x 256 sized frame.
What do you get for:
x11perf -repeat 1 -shmput500
If run in depth 24, the fps is roughly the bandwidth, in MB/sec
to the framebuffer.
I get
x11perf - X11 performance program, version 1.5
The XFree86 Project, Inc server version 40100001 on :0.0
from sine

Sync time adjustment is 0.0489 msecs.
360 reps @ 16.0078 msec ( 62.5/sec): ShmPutImage 500x500 square
Something is wrong with your system.
can I know on what figures and logic you draw this conclusion ? ... are
those figures too slow ?
What does "cat /proc/mtrr" say?
no such file or directory. I'm on debian.
And were there any warnings in the /var/log/XFree86.0.log (lines
that start "(WW)")?
(WW) Cannot open APM

And this was a laptop right?
yep, dell inspiron 8200
Are you perhaps stuck in some
power saving mode?
dont think so, power saving has been turned off.........well, I have
disabled APM.
Mark.
